Shawn met the love of his life, Lori Ball, while they were in the 7th grade, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and lifelong memories. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning his Expert Infantry Badge at just 19 years old. During his military service, Shawn completed three tours in Baghdad, Iraq, demonstrating courage, dedication, and sacrifice for his nation.
Following his military career, Shawn worked for NCCI in Marion, Ohio, where he served on the Special Response Team and was a Fugitive Recovery Agent. He was respected for his strength, loyalty, and commitment to helping others.
Outside of work, Shawn found joy in the simple things that mattered most, family, friends, and time spent at home on the farm he loved. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing that gift with others, often making meals for the people he loved and teaching friends and family some of his skills. Steak was always his specialty and favorite meal to prepare. Shawn loved opening his home to family and friends, creating countless memories. He also cherished caring for his horses, chickens, ducks, and dogs. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully cheered on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Don Woolum Sr.; grandparents, Mary Lou Ellis; Hubert “Woody” Ellis; brothers, Ryan Woolum and Chris Woolum; and father-in-law, William Ball.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lori Woolum; his children, Blake Woolum, Brandon Dawson, Brooke Woolum, and Bryce Woolum; grandchildren, Ayana Kenner and Rosie Dawson; mother, Phyllis (Harry) Wise, brother, Don (Brandie) Woolum Jr.; mother-in-law, Carol (John) Shoults, siblings-in-law, Christi (Pat) Ritchie, Bill (Kathy) Ball, Melissa (Jim) Fessler, Jennifer Bundy, as well as many aunts, uncles, extended family members, and dear friends.
