It is with great sadness that the family of Yuko Mills announce her passing on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at her residence. She was 79 years old.
Yuko was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Joe Mills, her parents, Chuji and Kurata Sunaga, her mother-in-law, Delores Mills, her father-in-law, Richard Mills, and her stepmother-in-law, Betty Sensmeier.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Doug Mills, her sister-in-law, Andrea (Mark) McDonald, step-in-laws JoAnn Boggs, Judy (Ron) Thompson, Doug (Bonnie) Willett, as well as her nieces and nephews, Stephanie Brewer, Richard Brewer, Kayla McDonald, and many cherished friends from the West Side.
Yuko's journey to America began in 1975 when she arrived alone, knowing very little English but with a heart full of courage. She was fearless, brave, sweet, strong, and a true firecracker. Over the years, she built a life full of love and dedication. Yuko worked at Jolly Pirate Donuts for 20 years and later at the Smoke Shop at Broad and Hague for 10 years, where she was well-known for her kind nature and work ethic.
It was while Joe was serving in the Marine Corps in Japan that they met, beginning a loving relationship that lasted a lifetime. Yuko had a fondness for visiting the dollar store and appreciated the simple joys in life.
Her vibrant spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Yuko’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who offered love, support, and friendship throughout her life.
