

Eva Mae Barnes, 85, of Port Arthur died Monday, November 17, 2014 at home. A native of Maurice, LA she was a resident of Port Arthur for 71 years. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church.
Mrs. Barnes is preceded in death by her husband Henry L. Barnes, Sr.; one brother Gilbert Green, Sr.; two sons Roy J. Barnes, Sr. and Walter L. Barnes, Sr. and her parents Walter and Lydia Senegal Green.
Survivors include a devoted daughter who cared for her until her passing Shelia Barnes Edwards (Gerald) of Port Arthur, TX, Catherine Barnes Dargins (Peter) of Houston, TX, Emelda Barnes Harris (Leroy) of Missouri City, TX, Henry L. Barnes, Jr. (Cheryl) and Andrew Woodson Barnes both of Port Arthur, TX; a loving godmother Anna Lewis of Lafayette, LA and a god son Larry Green of Port Arthur, TX; a devoted granddaughter, Jameshia Washington; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
A visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church with a rosary and tributes at 9:30 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. with Father David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
