He grew up in Groves and Port Arthur, Texas and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groves. From infancy, he loved attending Vacation Bible School in the summer. Animals of all kinds were his second love. Growing up he had everything from wild Mallard ducks and ducklings to Shetland ponies. James helped his father build a 16 foot fiberglass boat; but as an adult, football, and baseball among his favorite things to do. He resided in Beaumont, Richmond, and The Woodlands later in life. While briefly living on The boat he enjoyed fishing at Crystal Beach and Galveston Bay. He also enjoyed gardening and dirt biking.
Survivors include his mother, Gola Lowrey of The Woodlands; two sisters, Patricia Lowrey Johnson and husband Troy, of Spring, and Pamela Lowrey Latiolais of Tomball; Great Aunt Anna Sue Parkinson of Harrison, Arkansas and numerous cousins.
James was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. He had two nieces and two nephews, Sherry Pickert and husband David; Jayson Johnson and wife Kelly; Trevor Latiolais and wife Jamie; and Kindell Lopez and husband Adam.
James adored his grand nieces and nephews Jaclynn Zimowski and husband Joseph; Weston Johnson and wife Peytan; Sabrina and Angela Pickert; and Fallon, Asher, and Shaylee Lopez.
The Lowrey family acknowledges the dedication and kindness of the staff at St. Giles Living Center in Beaumont and Richmond, Texas for making James many years loving and purposeful. We also give our love to the Heart to Heart Hospice in The Woodlands, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Jimmy Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
