Mackie Mary English

She was married to Horace English for 69 years, raised 8 children and was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church for 62 years. Mackie and Horace's children also attended catholic school. Mackie was loving, kind and always put others before herself. Mackie loved family get-togethers, fishing and long conversations on the phone. Mackie was a great business woman for over 30 years, owning English's Greenhouse where she raised beautiful plants and flowers. She was also known as the "Bird Lady", raising and selling tropical birds since the 1960's.

Mackie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rita Riche, Wilma Saucier; brother, Robert Neyland; and grandson, Aaron Broussard.

She is survived by her loving husband, Horace English; children, Josie Marie Broussard and husband Norris, Kerry James English and wife Sandra, Patrick J. English and wife Jan, Michael Paul English and wife Cheryl, Allen Luke English and wife Perry, Ninette Ann Phillips and husband Blake, Dennis Matthew English and wife Rose, and Johnnie Gerard English. She is also survived by a sister, Janet Ortego; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3840 Woodrow Dr., Port Arthur, TX. Rite of committal will follow at Greenalwn Memorial Park, Groves.
