My condolences to the family - the University community will always remember Bonnie's kind heart and dedication. 

Bonnie was the greatest boss and the anchor for so many people on campus. I'll always cherish the memories of our wild Christmas parties, panicked lunch rushes and frequent, deep chats about life. The grad lounge was the ultimate refuge for me during graduate school and Bonnie was its heart. I truly believe I wouldn't have made it through if it wasn't for that crazy and special place. In particular, I'll miss making Bonnie shake her head at our antics, listening to the Star is Born soundtrack on repeat and absorbing her wisdom gained from so many years as a campus mom. Bonnie was a wonderful soul and she will be dearly missed - Mitch Demelo

I came to know Bonnie when I was a graduate student at the University of Guelph, and then met her again years later when I came back to the University as a faculty member and eventual AVP of Graduate Studies.   At some Canadian Universities, student lounges are a source of constant concern be it around regular deficits, code violations, missing funds (or drinks), and worse.  With Bonnie at the managerial post, this was never a concern.  To be both an effective manager and a warm human being is always a challenge.  For Bonnie, it was a piece of cake.   She was one of a kind.

My sincere condolences to Bonnie's family. I got to know Bonnie and became her friend during the early 1990s when working as a bartender at the University of Guelph Grad Club. Bonnie had this most pleasant, sweet and sincere disposition and was wonderful to be around and easy to work for.  When back in Guelph I would always make a point of swinging by the Grad Club to see if Bonnie was in and if she was we would invariable sit down to have a coffee or lunch and a chat. I was very sad to hear this news. It just seems too soon. She lived life well, enriched by the things many of us take for granted: family, friends and love.

Bonny was a good friend from my years working at the Grad Lounge UofG, and I visited her there the few times I returned  to Southern Ontario and was always glad I did.  She always had an infectious smile and a glow to her personality.  Will miss her but will always have good memories.  Best regards to her family.

So saddened to hear about the loss of your partner and love, Tony. Although I did not meet her, I can see on these messages what an important and caring person she was to you and your  kids. Take care.

i cant fall back asleep this morning, i had a dream with bonnie in it last night.  she was sitting at the beach at the cottage wrapped in a blanket while she watched all of us playing in the water.  in my dream i found an injured baby bird and i brought it over to Bonnie to take care of while we continued playing.  when i woke up i was in awe of my own dream, my dream showcased Bonnie so well it was crazy, as everyone knows she was a beach-bum but also such a good care giver hence the injured bird.  i’ve never been the one to ever have dreams or even remember them but i’m so happy i got to wake up and remember this one with Bonnie in it.

Bonnie was such a great stepmom, i only have good things about her to share with everyone.  her funny personality, her big caring heart and how much she loved to drink radlers.  i will miss how complete she made my dad feel, i will miss her big, bright smile and i will miss our family dinners every night together.  

you are gone way to soon Bonnie, you challenged us everyday to become strong individuals and this is the biggest challenge yet.  I love you Bonnie, more then words can ever express! i will see you in my dreams.

It's hard to imagine or put into words how it feels to loose our Bonnie.  We were a party of four and have shared so many memories together - cottage weekends at Jackie's ,our dinners out,  our annual shopping trips to the  US where we would model our purchases, figure out who got the best deal and who spent the most money.  We will treasure our memories of our birthday trips to NYC and the Bahamas!   We were bed mates because we both snored.  Until we meet again-love you to the moon and back.

Bonnie, not only were you the greatest step-mom I could ask for, you were one of my closest friends. When I would come home from school, one question I would always ask dad is ‘when is Bonnie getting home?’. You made dinners at home fun by asking us what one good and bad thing happened that day. Thank you for watching Big Brother with me, dad and I will continue watching and making fun of the people who cry in it.

In exchange for my dad living with a new dog, you were to live with three teenagers. Not sure if that is what you were expecting but I am so glad that you were in for the ride. I am truly thankful for everything you did for us at home and for always buying the good snacks at the grocery store. 

Lastly, thank you for the time you have shared with my dad. You made life so fun for him and our family. We are all heartbroken that you are gone too soon. We’ll try not to cry too much because you always called us babies because we’re ‘too sensitive’.

It’s evident exactly the type of person you are by what is written on your memory wall. It’s evident by the overwhelming texts and phone calls I have received . It’s evident by the messages I have received from Blum colleagues around the globe the Uk, Australia and Austria. Only ever meeting you once or just knowing of you .... you are simply a beautiful kind hearted person, you engaged and made a positive impact on every single person you met. Except for maybe the store clerks who didn’t kiss you a** when you were prepared to spend your money.

We had an incredible decade together, we did so much but had so much more to do, I’m glad you got to see a bigger piece of the world from some of our travels. Im glad I was the one able to push you out of your “ comfort zone “  Like plane, train and cabbing it alone to meet me in Austria on your first trip to Europe 

You may of held the title of Step Mother to Clay and especially the girls. To them you were so much more you were a big sister a confident and a friend. You help me get them thru the difficult teenage years. I am so grateful it was you the kids will have those  memories a lifetime.

You know me I could write to you forever - there’s a million things I could say

I will cherish the incredible 10 years we had together all the memories and all the love you given us.

Hearing the news about Bonnie broke my heart. She always greeted me with a smile on her face when I would show up to the house. I was so sorry to hear about Bonnie. I knew her well from my role as Vice-Provost Student Affairs at UofG.  She was always that smiling face in the grad lounge and I appreciated her positive let's get this done attitude.  I turned to her when my husband and I were looking at a way to celebrate our 60th birthdays. She helped us organize a celebration in the grad lounge and was there celebrating with us the night of.  I think she was as excited as we were with the evening.  She is a light that will be missed.

Bonnie was a real treasure. I'm so sorry to hear this news. She will be greatly missed! I worked with her for several years at the Grad Lounge and was so happy to reunite with her when she returned to campus to run the Lounge again. She was the best boss anyone could have asked for - always supportive, creative problem-solver, a lot of fun, and a genuinely caring person. I'm so grateful for the time I got to work with her.
