Bonnie was a loyal, committed and loving wife to Tullio Volpe for 51 years. The love they shared with each other was something extraordinary. Together, they created a beautiful life. Bonnie’s children, Tania and Jay Volpe, were the light in her life. Bonnie could often be found at a soccer field or a hockey rink, cheering them on in their chosen sports when they were growing up. You can imagine Bonnie’s excitement when she became a Nonna. Her grandchildren, Tyson and Shylia Volpe and Ryann and Kai Whitnell, made her heart sing. She devoted her life to helping raise them. They have many fond memories of her up at the Kelly Cottage and at Great Wolf Lodge, but their favorite memories are the ones where we gathered at her home for dinner, some cards and a few million laughs.
Bonnie cherished her friendships, some of which spanned her lifetime. She was warm, welcoming, and always up for some fun. Anyone who knows Bonnie will have a story about how she made them laugh until they cried, they will tell you about a prank she pulled on them or they will tell you what an amazing partner in crime she was. Bonnie will be especially missed by her lifelong friend, Bev Bogart.
Bonnie had a zest for life and she had many activities she loved to do. In the winter, you could find her cross-country skiing with family and friends, skating in the backyard on the ice rink Tullio made, or tobogganing with all the neighborhood children. In the summer, Bonnie was happiest camping, near a lake and around a campfire. In her younger days, you could find her behind her dad’s boat, waterskiing. Bonnie also enjoyed spending time at her home, around the pool entertaining company with good food and good music. She will be missed by her sister, Heather Diebel and her brother and Sister-in-law, Angelo and Billie Volpe.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Shirely Mackenzie, her brothers Jay and Kim Mackenzie. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law, Anna Volpe, her father-in-law, Erino Volpe and her sister-in-law Cheryl Volpe. All of whom have waited to be with her again.
