He leaves behind a life defined by family, community, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the places and people who shaped him.
Born in Montréal, Québec, on January 3, 1959, Claude was the son of Lisa Macorin (née Iannuccilli). Montréal always remained close to his heart, and he often reflected on how fortunate he was to have grown up in a city rich in culture and character.
Claude began his career at the Montreal Stock Exchange, where fate introduced him to Jacqueline Landry. Their first encounter soon grew into a 39-year partnership built on love, shared ambitions, and deep friendship.
Claude spent his professional life in the investment world, a field well suited to his analytical mind and thoughtful judgment. He began his career as an analyst before becoming a Portfolio Manager at McGill University. His work later brought him to the University of Guelph, where he served as Managing Director and continued to build the trusted reputation he had earned over many years.
In time, Claude drew upon decades of experience to establish Macor Capital Management, an investment consulting firm that went on to serve some of the largest foundations across Ontario. For Claude, the work was never simply about markets or numbers – it was about responsibility, stewardship, and the trust others placed in him.
Although Montréal remained an important part of his identity, Claude often spoke about how fortunate he felt to have built his life and home in Guelph, where he and Jacqueline raised their family. Over the years, he developed a deep affection for Southwestern Ontario and the many towns and villages along the shores of the Great Lakes. He found great joy in exploring the region and appreciated its quiet beauty.
Above all else, Claude was devoted to his family. He was the beloved partner of Jacqueline and a proud and loving father to Justin (Shivangi) and Samantha (Michael). Some of his greatest happiness came from time spent together – sharing stories, discussing the news, traveling, gardening, cooking special meals, and appreciating the simple moments that make family life meaningful.
From a young age, Claude had a deep love for hockey. He played, coached, and refereed, and loved cheering on the Montreal Canadiens. He also loved baseball and was fortunate to work for the Montreal Expos in his youth and through his university studies. Backgammon was another lifelong passion, and in retirement he embraced it fully, competing in international tournaments and taking enjoyment in refining his skills.
Claude will be remembered as a thoughtful and steady presence in the lives of those around him. He possessed a quiet wisdom and a genuine appreciation for the relationships he built throughout his life. His kindness, loyalty, and calm perspective left a lasting impression on family, friends, and colleagues alike.
He considered himself fortunate in life – fortunate in the work he pursued, fortunate in the places he lived, and most of all fortunate in the family he loved. Claude will be sadly missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Dublin Chapel on Saturday, April 18, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Guelph (252 Dublin St. N.). Interment will follow at Mount Royal Cemetery in Outremont, Québec, at a later date.
