Loving father of Joey, Monica and Adam. Grandad of Ashley, Austin, Desmond and Lillian. Great grandad to Bentley. Eldest son of Antony (2005) and Nellie (2007) of Eramosa. Dear brother of Joanne (Roy Davies), Art (Johanna), the late Tony (2007) (Marjorie), Nancy, Angelina, Frank (Janice), MaryAnn and Peter.

Dirk was a well-known figure in Guelph’s downtown core. He would give you the shirt off his back, or his last smoke, without hesitation. He loved conversation, long walks, his near-feral cat, the History Channel and a good laugh.

The family wishes to acknowledge all those who were kind and generous towards him, most especially the physicians and staff of the Homewood, the ACTT team, Sister Christine Leyser, all the “gals” at the Victoria and York Road Tim Hortons, the Guelph Police Service, who treated him respectfully and his neighbours on Hooper Street.

To attend Dirk’s visitation at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 11-1 p.m., please RSVP on the funeral home website or call 519-822-4731. A private service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oustic. If so desired, memorial donations to the Welcome In Drop In Centre, Guelph would be appreciated by the family.
