

Beloved husband of Dorothy, his devoted wife of 71 years. Loving father to Ryan (Joanne), Laurie Engler (Mike), and Lisa Kurtz (Barry). Proud grandfather to Christopher, Marla Hayston (Jeff), Brandon, and Nicole McTavish (Rob), and cherished great-grandfather to Hudson and Bennett Hayston.
He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Marie Becker. Gerard will be dearly missed by his siblings Bob (Sharon), Rita Deeves( Albert “Red”), Dorothy Walters (Jerry, deceased) and Jean Litt (Calvin “Tip”, deceased) and is predeceased by his siblings Marcella Reich (Alex), Marina Monk (Elmer), Norman (Ruth), Harvey Jr. “Dooley” , (Dorothy), Clarence “Salty”, (Joyce), Bernice Klein (Lloyd), Albert, Ruby Monk (Cecil). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A lifelong resident of Guelph, Gerard established Superior Furniture Refinishers in 1960, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship and dedication to his customers. He finally retired 11 years ago at the age of 80. He also gave back to his community through coaching baseball and inspiring others with his love of running. A devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Maple Leafs, Gerard’s loyalty never wavered.
Above all, Gerard was a dedicated and loving grandfather who treasured time spent with his family. Known for his great sense of humour, reliability, and warm spirit, he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the staff at Riverside Glen for their love, care and support.
A private family service will take place. Inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements with Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, 252 Dublin St., Guelph.
