Giuliana "Liana" Meller née Pampararo

She is predeceased by her adored grandmother Anna Lovati who lovingly cared for her during WW II and by her mother Elda Castiglioni née Lovati, married Pampararo and by her physician father Vincenzo Pampararo and her two brothers Carlo and Paolo Pampararo.

At the age of twenty Liana came alone to Canada on the Andrea Doria to work. She married Ian Meller (né Vladimir Issakoff), and earned a Masters of Italian Literature at McGill University and attended Teacher's College all while raising two children.

She then taught Italian at Carleton University and French to primary school students and later taught French within the Department of National Defence as well as working in their Office of Equal Opportunities.

She had an exquisite appreciation for the arts and she surrounded herself with the things she loved; beautiful art, classical music, many wonderful books covering vast topics in multiple languages and cultures, a meticulously cared for garden and in later years a beautiful view. She never lost the childlike wonder of the beauty of a cloud, a feather, a leaf or a colour.

She'll be missed by her loving children; Alexander "Ali" (Sue Fraser) and Anna Issakoff-Meller (Dianne Pittman), her grandchildren; Nicholas (Tesa Rayner), Anthony "Anti" (Sable Giesler), Andrew (Delara Jalalian) and David (Alyssa Shaver) Wesley-James and her wonderful great grandson Caspian and a little great granddaughter on the way.

She will also be lovingly remembered by our extended family in Canada, across the Atlantic and the Pacific including;

Kim, Lesley and David ne Pampararo

Francesca, Irina and Vincenzo ne Pampararo

Costanza, Clara and Corrado ne Giampietro and Peter Boski.

We are very grateful for the care and support from Dr Martin and Dr Brodovsky, and the wonderful nurses and PSWs at GGH and St Joseph's Health Centre.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Operation Smile or Save the Children, organizations our mom supported.

Her legacy is her immense appreciation of beauty and her wonderful large family.
