

Joan was born on January 27, 1927 in Great Bookham, Surrey, UK. Joan served in the Women's Royal Airforce, nursing soldiers admitted to hospital from battle fields during the Second World War. Joan met and married, James Aloysius Mullany, who died in November 1948, they had one daughter Anne Mary.
Joan and Anne came to Canada in 1949 after Joan’s marriage to Edwin Stanley Turner (deceased) and later moved to Guelph in 1951.
Joan had 3 daughters: Anne Mary Luton, husband (Robert C Luton); Jane Madeline Denner, husbands (Dermot McCann and Jeffrey Denner) and Jocelyn Elizabeth Turner, partner (Peter Finney) Finn.
Joan had six grandchildren: Jesse McCann; Robert T Luton, wife (Chi Luton); Julien Denner; Jeremy Hawkins (Jocelyn’s son); Alexa Denner; Quinn Denner.
Joan was involved with charities in Guelph over the years and was a member of the Robert Mutrie I.O.D.E; the Altar Guild at St. James Anglican Church and the Creative Arts Guild to name a few.
Joan was an accomplished, award-winning artist in Florida and Guelph working in oils, watercolour and pastel mediums. Joan was commissioned to design a stained-glass window depicting a life-sized study of the Virgin and Christ Child, for St. James Anglican Church's Lady Altar in Guelph which can be seen today. Joan’s paintings hang in homes all over the world.
Joan enjoyed extensive travel around the world and was known for her hospitality, creativity and quick wit by all who knew and loved her. Joan will be remembered for her charity, grace, vitality and determination to enjoy a full meaningful life. Joan will be greatly missed by many.
