

Rosemary Vanderkamp died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday January 22nd with her granddaughter, Madison, at her side. She was born in St. Andrews, Scotland and is predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth Bushnell as well as her older sisters Betty Bushnell and Lorraine Scott (John). She led an interesting life, completing a postgraduate degree in librarianship at the University of London; working for a time as a research assistant to Lord Beaverbrook, with whom she travelled extensively and met Edward Kennedy, Paul Martin Sr. and Elizabeth Taylor. She met her husband, John Vanderkamp, at Dow’s Lake in Ottawa where they spent an afternoon sailing together. She raised 3 children: Nick (Lisa); Fiona, and Christa (Mike). She also worked for many years as a business editor for academic journals at the University of Guelph. She loved to travel, often visiting family in Scotland and the Netherlands. She also enjoyed painting watercolours, collecting artwork and playing the piano. She is predeceased by her husband John and daughter Fiona. She is survived by her children: Nick and Christa and her grandchildren (who were a source of great pride and enjoyment): Kyrie, Mae, Josie, Chelsea, Kathleen, Stephen, Julianna, Madison, Allyson and Isabelle and her great grandchildren: Alexander, Liam and Asher. She also leaves behind many family members in Scotland and the Netherlands. A celebration of life will take place in the spring at a date to be determined.
