VANDER GRIENDT, John H. Passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in his 86th year. Beloved husband for 60 years to Mary Vander Griendt. Loving father of Jerry of Angola, Indiana, U.S.A., George (Brenda) of Guelph, Paul (Louise) of Newmarket, Liz Vander Griendt of Kitchener, Rick (Johanna Anneke) of Guelph, Maryke Mior and her late husband Jack of Waterloo. Dear Opa of 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Thomason, Jason, Alicia (Bob Blackwell), Melanie (Craig Ainsworth), Julie, Laura, Spencer, Tyler, Amanda, Stewart, Phillip and Stephen. Dear Opa of 9 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Sarah, Olivia, Emma, Dakota, Robert, Paisley, Sierra and Emily. Dear brother of Henry, Riek, Ben, Toos, Ria, Hennie and Agnes. Predeceased by his brother Wil (1963) and his sister Annie (2007). Survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph where the family will receive friends on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A vigil will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph, on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Private Interment will follow at Marymount Cemetery.
