She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and joy and will be deeply missed by her devoted partner of more than 30 years, her dear Jimmy. A cherished mother, Louise is survived by her daughter, Lynn, and her stepdaughters, Kelly (Chris), Karen, Krista (Andrew). She was a loving grandmother to Avery and Adrian; step-grandmother to Kylie, Kassie, and Connor; and a proud great-grandmother to Nevaeh, Nixon, Jamais, Alliah, and Aniah. Louise is also survived by her brother Hugh (Dee) and her sister-in-law Hanne Marie. She was predeceased by her parents, Gladys and James, and her brothers Hamil (Phyllis), Ralph (Monica), Roy, and John (Glenda). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as the many children she cared for through the Foster Parents Association of Guelph.
Born in San Fernando, Trinidad, on September 27, 1936, Louise was the youngest of six children. Affectionately known as “Weezie,” she was celebrated for her vibrant spirit and youthful energy.
After training as a nurse in England, she immigrated to Canada in the 1960s and dedicated her career to nursing at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital in Cambridge and later at Freeport Hospital, from which she retired.
Louise had a flair for style and a passion for creativity, finding joy in sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to dance and was often the life of the party, bringing laughter wherever she went. Above all, Louise was a beautiful soul whose kindness and strength will live on in all who loved her.
Cremation has taken place, and a private ceremony will be held at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Guelph General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Hospice Wellington for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
