Born and trained as a veterinarian in Poland, Miroslaw was a man of great intelligence, compassion, and quiet ambition. Following his veterinary training, he set out on an academic career that spanned countries and continents, completing his PhD training and three post-doctoral fellowships, while being licensed as a veterinary surgeon in three countries. He was named professor of veterinary surgery in 1998, upon which he embarked on his vision of pioneering renal transplant surgery for small animals—a vision that spoke to both his technical brilliance and deep empathy for living creatures. After immigrating to Canada and hanging up his surgical gloves, Miroslaw worked for many years at the Guelph Manufacturing Group, where his hard-working disposition and devotion never went unnoticed.
Miroslaw will be fondly remembered by his family in Poland and Canada, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was predeceased by his beloved brother, Wlodzimierz.
A loving, personable, and deeply reflective man, Miroslaw’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be greatly missed.
