Mollie was born on February 27, 1940, in Midland, Ontario, to Isadoro Fantinato and Mary (Contini) Fantinato.
Mollie was a devoted and loving mother to Lynn (Dave), Robert (Joanne), and Peter (Gregg), and a cherished grandmother to Kyle (Dominika), Nolan, Kaitlyn (Ed), and Isaac (Madeleine). She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Virginia (Chris), as well as her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mollie was the loving sister of the late Rose (William (Bill), deceased) and the late Peter (Jean, deceased), and sister-in-law of the late Alan (Elaine).
Mollie loved deeply, and her family was the centre of her life. She was fiercely protective of those she loved and was the person we turned to for advice, a listening ear, or simply some comfort. She had a rare warmth and a beautiful smile that could light up a room. She loved to laugh, and people were naturally drawn to her warmth and sense of humour. She had a way of making people feel welcome, cared for and at home. You always knew she was in your corner.
Perhaps nowhere was Mollie’s love more evident than around her kitchen table. Sunday family dinners were a tradition, and there was always enough food to feed an army. She cooked not only for family, but for friends and neighbours too—even the mailman was fed from time to time. For Mollie, food was simply another way of showing people she cared.
We will remember her fierce love of family, her warmth, her laughter, her advice, her generosity, and the countless ways, both big and small, that she took care of us. Mollie leaves behind a family who knew how deeply they were loved, who loved her just as deeply, and who will miss her more than words can say.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Mollie’s wishes, an intimate Celebration of Life will be held with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you honour Mollie’s memory with an act of kindness toward someone in need of a little help.
