ANDERSON, Nancy (Nan) Elinore-- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Elinore Stewart Anderson on Friday, February 14, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer at the Guelph General Hospital. Nan was born on March 18, 1940 in London, Ontario. She was the beloved daughter of the late Norman Fraser Stewart (1979) and Jean Lenore Luney Stewart (1991). Nan was the treasured friend of so many special people that shared their love, friendship, and life with her. She was the best of friends with Elizabeth and Joe Tersigni, Dolores and Michael Bergin, and special Aunt to the Tersigni children – Paul, Shannon, Kevin (Godson), and Kaitlyn. She will really be missed by her loving cats Snookums and Scooter. A woman with a generous heart, Nan lived her life with integrity, spirit, and a strong faith in God. She touched the lives of so many and was a source of strength to anyone who crossed her path. Her volunteer service in this community was endless. Nan was a devoted Trustee with the Wellington Catholic District School Board, a long-time and active member of the Church of Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Women’s League, past member and former Chair of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation. Nan was a great English teacher and Guidance counsellor at Bishop Macdonell High School on “The Hill,” and St. James Catholic High School. One of her favourite poets, William Wordsworth, wrote the following words that truly express the deep sense of loss we all feel at this time: “But yet I know where’er I go, that there has passed away a Glory from the earth.” Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street North on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. A celebration of Nan’s life will take place with Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Private cremation to follow with interment of ashes in St. Thomas, Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made to the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation, the Church of Our Lady Immaculate Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
