

Died peacefully on June 28, 2020 in Guelph. Born in Walkerton, Ontario on September 11, 1927, Beloved husband of Jean Pauline (nee Monk) for 70 years. Loving father of Sheryl Teed Callum (John Callum) of Toronto and Brian (Ania) of Oakville. Devoted grandfather to Jason Strader of Oakville.
Nelson was the 7th son of the late Amelia and Noah Strader of Bruce County, Ontario. Survived by his sisters, Mary (predeceased by Dr. Bruce Wellum) and Winnifred (Russel Ebel) and his brother, Joseph (Bev). Remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Mildred (August Voisin), Edgar (Edith), Harvey (Maurine), Eugene (Sally), Francis (Florence), Howard (Helen), Jerome (Louise), Margaret (Clayton Girodat), Regina, Wilfrid, Edith (Ron McAlinden) and Shirley (Morely Gonder).
Nelson graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, in 1950. He owned and operated Wexford Heights Pharmacy in Scarborough for 36 years. During this time, he mentored a number of pharmacists, who considered him to be “a true pharmacist in every respect of the term. He was a brilliant man and knew how to serve and how to lead”.
Nelson contributed his time and expertise to several organizations including: The Ontario College of Pharmacist Council, serving a term as President; the Board of Directors of the Drug Trading Company; Chairman of the Board of the Brotherhood Foundation involved in life-lease and accommodation for seniors; Chairman of the Board of The Wexford Residents Inc. which owns and manages both a seniors residence and a long-term care facility. Nelson was the pharmacist representative in a Drug Abuse Program developed and sponsored by IDA Drug Education and The Council on Drug Abuse.
Nelson leaves us with a wealth of rich memories of a life well lived.
