Born on February 15, 1946, in Glasgow, Scotland, Olive was the beloved Daughter of William and Jean Glendinning. She cherished her Scottish heritage with pride throughout her life, shaping her warmth, resilience, and unmistakable sense of humour.
Olive was the loving wife of the late Andrew Watson and a devoted Mother of Angela (Gordon), the late Julie (Robert), and Andrew. She was a proud and loving Granny to Andrew (Spencer), Jennifer, Caitlyn, and Graeme (Meghan), and Great-Grandmother to Andrew and Emma. Predeceased by her sister Marilyn. Olive will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends whose lives she touched with kindness, warmth, and quiet strength.
In 1968, Olive and her husband Andy made the brave decision to immigrate to Canada with their young Daughters, Angela and Julie, beginning a new chapter filled with opportunity, family, and lasting memories. Olive built a life centered on love, laughter, and dedication to those closest to her.
She found great joy in being with her family— an avid gardener, reader, animal lover, creative crafter, and took pleasure in crocheting many blankets for family and friends, where her creativity and care were stitched into every piece she made. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her Grandchildren, creating treasured moments filled with laughter and love.
Olive was truly one of a kind—someone who “broke the mould.” Never one to be predictable, always full of personality, and never went anywhere empty-handed. Her infectious laughter, generosity, and spirited nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She cherished time spent traveling with family, making special memories on her many trips to Florida, returning home to Scotland, and exploring destinations across Ontario.
Olive will be remembered for her caring nature, unwavering devotion to family, and the joy she brought into the lives of others.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Gilmore Lodge for their care, compassion, and the loving support they provided to Olive in her final years. A special thank you to ProResp for their many years of support and care.
