
BAST, Raymond Harold - 39 year Bell Canada employee and avid golfer died at Hospice Wellington on June 28, 2013. Born on Dec 23, 1925 in Kitchener, Ontario, Raymond was raised in several boarding houses run by his mother Agnes Bast (Keffer) during the depression. Ray joined the air force in 1944 as a wireless operator. Fortunately the war ended before he went overseas. Ray met his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Millicent in 1945 through his sister Betty Brutski (Bast). After the war Ray started his Bell Canada career in the stock room. He rose through the ranks to Engineering Manager, retiring in 1985. Ray loved to golf, picking up the sport in the mid 50's with long-time friend Ed Chadder of Kitchener. Ray belonged to several clubs including Highland Golf Club in London for over 30 years. Ray a dedicated father, is survived by his wife Dorothy as well as his children Cheryl (Brian Dolmer) and Brad (Reinouw Bast-Tjeerde). Donations in Ray’s memory can be made to Hospice Wellington in Guelph or the Canadian Red Cross. The family would like to thank both organizations for their great support.
