Bob passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph Ontario on November 21, 2023, at the age of 86 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara. Bob was a loving and supportive figure to his children Craig (Loretta), Wendy Wood (Bill), Bonny Brissenden (Robert) and Neil (Sally) and his grandchildren David (Juliana), Matthew, Alex (Jenn), Geoffrey, Stephanie (Chelsea), Kevin, Amanda (Graeme), Brad, Andrea and his great grandson Finn. Bob will be sadly missed by his partner Mary Theaker and his many brothers and sisters and their families.
Bob was retired after a long career with Air Canada. He and Barb enjoyed traveling in their retirement years and loved to tend to their garden at home in Guelph. Bob was an avid hockey fan and during his career with Air Canada often travelled with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He and his friends spent many evenings cheering the Guelph Storm. Bob was a passionate volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and drove many patients to their appointments. In his later years Bob was fortunate to have Mary in his life as they enjoyed their home and time together in Guelph.
The family would like to make a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Palliative ward for their compassion and kind care of Bob over the past few weeks.
As per Bob’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Foundation. The family is being supported by Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N. Bob will be cremated, and internment of his ashes will be made at a later date.
