Simpson, Ruth Louisa-- It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ruth Louisa Simpson (nee Fitter), on Friday November 29, at Guelph General Hospital, in her 78th year. Predeceased by her loving husband of fifty years, Jim Simpson. Beloved mother to Shawna Hilborn (Jamie), Todd (Micki), Kirk (Tammy) and Scott (Michelle). Caring sister to Karen Siegrist (Jim) of Chelsey and Brian (Judy) of Owen Sound/ Predeceased by brothers Paul Fitter (Betty) and David Fitter (Patricia) of Owen Sound. Sister-in-law to Liz Hansen of Guelph. Devoted Grandma to Alex, Micaela, Matt, Kelsey, Luke, Brittany, Mike, Tyler, Samantha, Sierra, Shaelyn and Joel, and adoring great-grandma to Aaron and Mason. Raised in Owen Sound, Ruth attended Stratford Normal School for teaching, where she met Jim, the love of her life. She went on to teach school at Central School in Preston and a number of Guelph Public Schools, including Torrance and June Avenue. She spent the majority of her career teaching at Laurine Avenue Public School, impacting the lives of so many students. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and students. Ruth made friends everywhere she went and her generous heart endeared her to so many. "Now our angel has her wings" The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 1-4 and 6-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Thursday, December 5 at 11am with a reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later time.
