

Charles Cimaglio, age 56, a resident of Gurnee, Illinois died on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at his home surrounded by family and friends after a long, valiant battle with cancer. Charles Thomas Cimaglio was born on January 6, 1956 in Evanston, Illinois to parents Henry and Elizabeth “Betty” (Vander Hyden) Cimaglio. He spent his childhood in Glenview, IL and attended St. Catherine Laboure Elementary School and Glenbrook South High School where he played football and was on the wrestling team. On February 1, 1975, was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Debra Richter in Glenview. Charlie was a police officer for the Village of Mundelein where he was known as “Chuck”, and was an instructor for the Driver Safety program for 16 years at the College of Lake County. More recently, he worked as a bus driver for Grayslake High School and Woodland School District and in the parks department of the Gurnee Park District. Charlie loved working in his yard, doing stained glass and spending time with his family and friends. Charlie is survived by his wife Debbie, daughters: Wendi and Julie, and beloved grandson, Kody Gavinski all of Gurnee. Brothers and sisters: Fred (Judy) of Inverness, IL, Hank (Sue) of Readstown, WI, Ed (Kat) of Hedgesville, WV, Jerry of Union, KY, Mary Stutz of Glenview, IL, Larry (Gretchen) of Wheaton, IL, Nancy of Florence, KY, Bob of Antioch, IL, father and mother in law Harry and Barbara Ketter of Glenview, IL, sisters and brothers in law, Dawn Werfelmann of Lindenhurst, IL, David (Yvonne) Richter of Pleasanton, CA, Doug (Ellen) Richter of Vernon Hills, IL, Donna (Craig) McCudden of Columbus, OH and many nephews and nieces. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann; and father in law Jean Richter. Visitation for Charles Cimaglio will be held on, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 9:30 am until time of service11:30am at the Marsh Funeral Home.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center.
