Gerald Lee Strain

Gerald (Gary) Lee Strain, age 75, passed away suddenly in his Waukegan, Illinois home on June 13th, 2023 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Gary was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Army. He loved boating and riding his motorcycle. He took great pride in his yard work and loved cutting the grass. He was a truck driver and drove for over 40 years and over a million miles. He was a man who believed in hard work and would run, not walk to get the job done. His nickname was Superman because he was always moving very quickly.

Gary was the beloved husband of Kathleen J. for 38 years; loving father of Don Zehrung, Wendy (Bob) Collins, Jennifer (Luis) Berrios, Dani (Brad) Krieschen, Amy Alvarez, Alvin (Patty) Zehrung, Gary (Robin) Strain. Cherished Papa of 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his brother, James (Diane) Tipton and sisters, Deb (Gary) Songster, Sandy (Don) Peters, Donna (Leonard) Seals, Pam Devore, Teri Tipton. He is preceded in death by his loving grandfather, William Baartz.

Freinds and family will gather for a celebration of Gerald's life that will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Prairie Baptist Church in Wisconsin.
