

Germaine Shuster passed away at the age of 92 on October 18, 2014, in Kenosha, Wisconsin surrounded by her family. Born Germaine Marguerite Thivierge on January 27, 1922, to Alphonse and Georgianna Thivierge in Marlborough, Massachusetts. She studied nursing in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her nursing degree and graduated in 1943. Upon graduating, she joined the Army and served as an Army Nurse in the Asiatic- Pacific Theater during WWII. While stationed on Guam, Germaine met her future husband James Anton Shuster of Waukegan, Illinois who was also serving in the Army as a lieutenant. At the end of the war Germaine and James were married at her home in Marlborough, Massachusetts on May 6, 1946. They made their home in Waukegan, Illinois and later in Gurnee, Illinois. They were married for 55 years at the time of James' passing in 2001. Germaine was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years and later St. Dismas Catholic Church. She worked as a nurse at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan and later at Lake Forest Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with family, was an avid gardener and loved bowling, bingo and traveling. Germaine will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, sister and friend, and for her strong faith, kind heart and gentleness.
Germaine is survived by her sister, Doris Rosko (Mike) of Massachusetts; two brothers, Robert Thivierge (Jean) of Massachusetts and Richard Thivierge (Elaine) of Florida. Six Children: Mark Shuster of Idaho, Marylynn Lolmaugh (David) of Georgia, Thomas Shuster (Stacey) of Minnesota, Marguerite Shuster of Gurnee, Illinois, Karen Schroeder ( Fred) of Gurnee, Illinois, Anne Krueger (James) of Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; two brothers, Norman and Ronald, and one sister, Yvonne.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1st at The Church of Saint Patrick, 15000 West Wadsworth Rd, Wadsworth, Illinois. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, Illinois immediately following the Funeral Mass.
