Ilomae D. Curran, age 91, of Gurnee, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois.
Ilomae was born on October 14, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Laurence and Amanda (Stemwedel) Ruther and she graduated from Grayslake High School in 1949. She worked for Abbott Labs after high school until she was married to William “Red” Curran on November 27, 1954 in Grayslake, IL. Ilomae was very active in her community, and was well known as a volunteer throughout her life. She enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes and senior centers, as well as many other places such as the Woman’s Club, where she served as a past president, and the Lake County Council for Seniors. Ilomae was a member of the Church of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, golf and traveling. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Red; her sister, Nancy Larson; and a niece, Debra Larson.
Ilomae is survived by two children, Kathleen Paap and Jerry (Nicole) Curran; four grandchildren, Sean and Margaret Paap, and Grace and William Curran; a great granddaughter, Melody Fox; her niece, Linda (Larson) Robey and nephew Robert Larson, as well as other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ilomae will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 20th, 2023 at the Church of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 15000 West Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Illinois. A visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.
