

Jim died on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee on Thursday, June 16th with a private family burial. Friends may call from 12-1pm on Thursday with a service at 1:00pm.
Jim was born on January 27, 1925 in Vermont. He moved with his family to North Chicago where he resided for 75 years. During that time he joined the Navy and served as a radio-gunner flying off of numerous aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. Upon his return from the war, Jim became a postal employee and worked as a letter-carrier and postal clerk for thirty-eight years before his retirement. Jim married Dorothy Coyle on September 6, 1947 at Holy Family Church in North Chicago.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and being with his family and friends. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of sixty-three years; son James(Barbara) Killoran of Dubuque, Iowa; sister Mary(Thomas) Gallahue of Downers Grove; grandchildren Jill(Frank) Giunta and Brian(Tracy) Killoran; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Emma, and Abbie Giunta and Ellen and Julia Killoran. He was preceded in death by his parents Timothy and Mary Killoran; brothers Timothy and John Killoran and sister Francis Leonitis. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jim’s name to Star Hospice 1324 N. Sheridan Rd. Waukegan, IL 60085.
