Age 81, of Gurnee, IL passed away December 24, 2015 at Winchester House in Libertyville. Born on September 5, 1934 in Chicago, IL. John was a mason contractor and owner of Petersen Masonry. He served his country in the Army Reserves, was a past member of the Explorers Scuba Diving Club, Lake County Contractors Assoc., Lake County Mason Contractors Assoc., Stick & Rudder Flying Club, and Experimental Aircraft Assoc. John pursued many hobbies, pilot, building a Kit Fox experimental airplane and restoring a 1935 Chevy pickup.
He is survived by his son, Mark Petersen (Diane Fox); daughter, Cheryl Hagman (Randy Biles), granddaughters Anna, Danielle and Cara Hagman; sister, Caroline Rose (Ronnie) of California. Preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Petersen and his parents, John and Lucille Petersen.
Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Home, Gurnee, IL Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 5 – 8 pm and Thursday, December 31, 2015 10 – 11 am with service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Memorial Park, Des Plaines. Memorials to the Alzheimers Association.
