I am so sad for your loss.  As a fellow/neighboring Village Manager that worked with Ken he was a great person that I am honored to have known.  He was good to the core and a great listener with sound advice.  My condolences to the family.  David Lothspeich

I had the pleasure of working with Ken for many years, he was a great man, a great example of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and the best boss. He will surely be missed, I know for sure by his family.  

I had the pleasure of working for many years with Ken as a municipal advisor to the Village of Mundelein.  He was constantly friendly, open, inquisitive, and yet appropriately demanding.  His character and vision were critical to the Village's well being and development.  He will be missed but leaves behind a legacy of excellent.  My best wishes and prayers to his family.         

So glad to have sat with Ken a couple years ago at a luncheon and share with him what a good mentor he was to me in learning the ropes of public service.  Dedication and hard work, but with humor and creativity. Thoughts & prayers to the family and all good memories of many years in Mundelein.


Ken and I were Village Manager colleagues. Both of us eventually went on to be consultants.  Always enjoyed being with him.  He cared about our fellow managers.  We volunteered together to develop and start a service through the Illinois City-County Managers Association to assist members seeking employment.  Job well done Ken!

So saddened that this great and wonderful man has left us here on earth,   but not ever in our hearts and  memories. I along with so many owe him so much. Not just as our leader at work, but more importantly for how to live a great life.  Thank you KWM.

Please accept my deepest sympathy.  I have the fondest memories of Ken during the time we lived in Gurnee.  My heart goes out to the entire Marabella family❣️

Ken was  fun-loving.  He once told a waiter it was my birthday just to hear the staff  sing me Happy Birthday in Japanese, even though my birthday wasn't for 6-months!   He was known to secretly pick up the  lunch tab for a friend he saw from afar in a restaurant.  And, he kept candy in his desk drawer for young kid, just to see their gleeful reaction.  He  had a hearty laugh that would fill the room--and beyond.  

Ken had a joy for life.  He loved good food.  For fifteen years, we went to lunch every Wednesday to "talk business"; but it was more about the food  and the camaraderie than the business.   I treasure those memories.

I had the pleasure of being hired twice by Ken, which seemed to be normal for him. The second time wasn’t any easier then the first because he always had high expectations.  As I got to know him more over the past 10+ years, it be came clear why people gravitated towards Ken. He was willing to work hard, to make anyone  willing to put in the effort, a better person. He not only loved his family more than anything  but also cared deeply about those he mentored. I am fortunate enough to feel as one of those. My public service career was started by Ken Marabella. He is loved and will be missed by so many. Prayers for his family that sacrificed their time with him for me and countless others. Ken legacy will continue into the future. 

Prayers are with the whole Marabella family. He will be missed by lot of people that he was able to mentor. I enjoyed our conversation because I come up from construction side and he was there to get things done correctly. The Lord got a great man up there to help him get this country back in shape. Will miss you Ken until we meet agian

Mike,  how wonderful it is to have grown up with man who treasured his family and loved ones. His many dad to son talks were inspiration and yet tough at times... Watching his children grow up to be successful adults and extending his legacy with grandkids made him smile many days . Fond memories will always be the door to laughter and stories which the family will always share. My condolences to the family.

Ken was the man that should be modeled by all other men when it comes to being a husband, father and mentor.  He was one of the greatest men I have ever met and was fortunate enough to be his neighbor for several years when me, Tim and Shaun rented out the house on the property below them.  He always put everyone else first and the memories of the Marabella family put a massive smile on my face.  Thoughts and prayers to Sheila, Mike, Tim, Pat and Danny. You were like family to me and my heart is broken to hear of this.   

A wonderful man with a laugh that is still reverberating out in the world. My condolences to the entire family.

Dear Sheila and family, I can't think of Ken without smiling. He was just that kind of guy. He always had a smile on his face, and I rarely talked to him without us sharing some story that had us both laughing. I have known him as a friend, a fellow parent, and even as a short-term boss!... and in all respects, I have nothing but the fondest of memories. I'm thinking of Ken and all your family, knowing you will always cherish this kind-hearted man.

Sheila and family, we were so sad to hear about the loss of Ken.  I was his first Assistant Village Administrator in Mundelein in 1985  and my husband Víctor was the Village Engineer.  Ken was a great, mentor, boss and leader.  I learned so  much from him.  He taught me the skills and abilities to have a great career in local government. But the greatest thing  Ken taught me was how to say NO! It has served me well over the past  37 years.  We put in many long hours at Board meetings as you are aware, but his dedication to the Village is demonstrated in its success.  Ken was a true public servant.  I remember many lunches at his favorite restaurant  El Barrio and he knew how to make work bearable. 

You are in our thoughts and prayers.  We hope your fond memories of him bring you peace.

Sheila & family,  we are sad to hear of Ken's passing.  He was a great man.  I will never forget when Guy & I stopped to see Ray on the motorcycle & he stopped us and asked us what were we doing there. He didn't realize Ray was Guy's uncle.  Always a chuckle & great conversations.

I had the opportunity to work for Ken as an intern and then with Ken for several years as a Village Trustee - and his ability to run the business and day-to-day activities of the Village were very impressive.  He had a great ability to work with the Mayors and Trustees he served with as Mundelein’s first ever Village Administrator.  He presented us with multiple options for major decisions - and even when he may not have agreed with the decision the elected officials made, he forged ahead based on the direction of the Board.  While he worked countless hours for the Village, he mostly enjoyed family life and heading up to northern Wisconsin to enjoy his family.  Ken was a good leader & mentor and will be missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken’s wonderful family.
