Peter M Banis

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Marsh Funeral Home, located at 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, at 11:00 am at St. Brigid Parish - Church of St. Patrick, 15000 W Wadsworth Rd, Wadsworth, IL, with interment to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL.

Peter was born on March 5th, 1942, in Waukegan, IL, to Alexander and Anne Marie (Turcin) Banis. After graduating high school in 1960, Peter started working for Abbot Labs. He continued to work for Abbott Labs until his retirement after 41 years with the company.

During his time at Abbott Labs, Peter was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, in Texas. In 1964, Peter married the love of his life, Rose (Ribando). Together, the two made their home first in Waukegan, then later in Gurnee, to raise their family.

His easy-going nature and loyalty to his friends and family will be carried on through all who loved him.

Peter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose; daughter Victoria Lee Banis (Dennis Leith); grandchildren Matthew Scott Banis (Ellie Beth), Kyle Peter Banis, Thea Danae Banis; sister Alice Banis Shorts, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents Alexander and Anne (Turcin) Banis, daughter Ann Marie Banis, son Shawn Thomas Banis, and brother Joseph Banis.
