Polly Hoskins, age 67, of North Chicago, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Polly was born October 1,1954 to Joseph and Clara Hall. She was preceeded in death by both parents, her brother's Lewis Hall and Edward June Hall (Sarah). She is survived by her three children Twyla Blount (Jade), William Hoskins and Tyler Hoskins; Grandchildren Avery Hall, Landon Blount, Hunter Blount, Greyson Blount and Phoenyx Blount; Siblings Marvin Hall (Karla), Sterling Hall (Patricia) and Gracie Fair.
Polly was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, friend and employee. She was a lovely person and her generosity was matchless. Although direct, honest and outspoken, she respected the opinions of others. Her concern for others was so deeply rooted in love. She loved unconditionally and did everything in her power to be supportive even when it meant neglecting herself. She devoted her time, knowledge, skills, and finances to provide services to her family, friends and neighbors. There were countless attributes prevalent in her life that illuminated through her love, long-suffering, patience, self-control, and kindness.
If you knew her, you knew that she put herself last especially when it came to taking care of her family. She would have it no other way because “Help” was one characteristic that she perfected and felt obligated to render. She was by far, the most loving, compassionate, nurturing and giving caregiver. You simply cannot find a better one! Paradise awaits her for the unselfish love she bestowed on others.
Some of her greatest inspirations and hobbies were: Bible Study with her group, watching tennis, playing cards, puzzles, bowling, and cooking for her grandchildren who had special dishes that they frequently asked her to make. The scrumptious pound cakes she baked were desired and requested by many. Coincidentally, she had baked a pound cake for a dear friend on Wednesday, the day before she passed away, with the intention of delivering it to her by Friday. She was also very thrifty and an excellent money manager. She loved wearing dresses and high-heeled shoes. She said she wore high-heels because they made her skinny legs look bigger. Material possession was not her desire. She cared more about providing for the well-being of her family and cherishing the things that she has been richly blessed with by God.
Whenever things were out of her control that she was passionate about, she would use the phrase, “It hurts my heart; it really does.” She was strong, committed and suppressed her needs because so many relied on her for strength and guidance. She was looking forward to enjoying her golden years, working part-time in the healthcare field and visiting her friends. After her surgery, she stated that she was not looking backward, but was focusing on moving forward and getting a closer relationship with Jehovah.
She worked for Allstate Insurance Company and as a contractor for other insurance agencies. She often mentioned that she did not have a college degree, but that did not hinder her from progressing in the workforce. She graduated from Sawyer business school. She became proficient in her job. When time permitted, she took the initiative and learned other job skills non-related to her job description because she wanted to be of further assistance to the customers. She was an outstanding worker and took pride in doing commendable work.
Polly loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She sacrificed immensely for the wellbeing of TJ. Heartbroken by her decision, she worked tirelessly to secure residential placement for him. Three days before her surgery, the placement was approved. Prior to her passing, she received feedback that he was adjusting well in his new home, viewed a video of him bowling, and was looking forward to bringing him home for the weekend.
Polly will be remembered for her unconditional love, and those who loved her will fondly and forever cherish her memories.
