

Shirley M. Hunter, 53, passed away October 5, 2015. She was born on October 5, 1962 in Waukegan, Illinois to Ellis and Donna O’Brien. She worked for the Lake County Sherriff’s Department for 28 years as a correctional officer. Shirley was tough as nails but at the same time had a heart size of Texas. She was an incredibly loyal person, great compassion and someone you were happy to have on your side. Shirley was an avid sports fan. She loved the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks and Patriots. She wore their colors with great pride. Shirley, you will forever be in our hearts, you are truly missed. Till we meet again…
She is survived by her mother Donna M. O’Brien; six siblings; Kathy Brown, Moe (Rick) Parks, Eileen (Ed) Connell, Doug (Paula) O’Brien, Jeff (Emmy) O’Brien and Joey (Denise Globis) O’Brien; thirteen nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Ellis; sister Pam and husband Herb Hunter; brother-in-law, John Brown; and nephew Mike O’Brien.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 10 to 12pm with a funeral service at 12pm. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police.
