

Born August 3, 1925 to William and Mary Jane Giddens in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joined the Navy in 1942. Boot Camp in Farragut, Idaho. Served in WWII on the USS Steamer Bay in the south Pacific. Returned to Great Lakes, here he met and married Mary Lou Jensen and stayed together for nearly 64 years. Then was stationed in Norfolk, VA. Bill went to barber school and later owned his own shop in Waukegan. He was elected the first alderman in the new 7th ward in North Chicago. He was chairman of building the city hall. He left his barbershop to join the Lake County Sheriff’s office and retired then after, over 20 years. He was in all 50 states, loved Wyoming and Montana the most. He was in Yellowstone Park 55 times. He was an avid photographer and a real John Wayne fan. He was a member of FOP, IPA, the Masonic lodge for 50 years, Scottish Rite and Tebala Shrine Temple. He also belonged to the Tebala Motor Patrol. He is a lifetime member of the VFW 7448. Bill is survived by his wife Mary Lou and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 11 to 1pm with funeral service following at 1pm at Marsh Funeral Home. Interment at Northshore Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Shiners Children Hospital in care of The Tebala Motor Patrol.
