KATZ--ANNBETH It is with the deepest of sorrow that we mourn the passing of Annbeth Katz at the age of 80 years. Annbeth was a very special human being, who was loved and admired by everyone who she encountered in life. Annbeth’s most important priority was first and foremost her family and friends. Those who knew her will remember her as a modest, unpretentious, philanthropic individual who was always there for anyone needing her help and support. Her love for her family and friends was contagious and whether it was entertaining at her home in the Berkshires, going to Tanglewood, or traveling the world, her family and friends were always with her.
Annbeth was born in Brooklyn to Philip and Sylvia Applebaum. She graduated Wingate High School at age 16 and went on to receive a BA in Sociology from Hunter College at age 19. She was a true trailblazer in the 1970s and was part of the first Women’s MBA program at Pace University and graduated with an MBA in 1981. Annbeth went on to have an illustrious Human Resources career at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Grand Met, and Intercontinental Hotels. Annbeth also served on the board of NCJW Bergen County and was on the Board of Education for the Pascack Valley Regional school system.
Annbeth was predeceased by her parents Philip and Sylvia Applebaum and her husband of 40 years, Gerald Katz. She leaves behind her beloved children, Debra and David Horowitz, Jill and Philip Wolf,and the joy of her life her grandchildren, Laurence and Andie Horowitz, Austin and Skyler Wolf, her sister Esta Goldstein, and her sister-in-law Mindy Katz Svetcov and nieces and nephews along with countless friends.
