I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Zablocki.  I graduated Rutgers college in 1998, and Professor Zablocki was my advisor for my Henry Rutgers thesis on contemporary religious movements.  He was an amazingly gifted scholar and professor. In particular, his book, The Joyful Community, was an amazing study and one that will easily captivate both the sociologist and “layperson.”  His academic and teaching excellence were exceeded only by his warm, caring character.  Professor Zablocki spent countless evenings helping me refine my thesis and always took a personal interest in my development as a student.  He was a fantastic person and professor and will truly be missed.   Rest In Peace.

As  my undergraduate professor at Rutgers Ben's guidance to the University of Chicago for my PhD,  proved to be the transformational experience of my life.  I have Ben to thank for the good that followed - from a Madison Avenue career to my current role as the professor at Florida Gulf Coast University who for ten years helped combat veterans transition  from battle to education and fulfilling lives.  

Thank you my friend for encouraging joy and intelligence and generosity toward our fellow humans.

I just picked up "Misunderstanding Cults" and thought what a great person Benjamin Zablocki would be to talk with, especially in these times. So sorry to hear he has passed away. Prayers to his family and friends. Godspeed to those who pick up the light. 

Goodbye old friend. I knew you when craziness reigned and we took that trip from  the commune in NM to CA with your friend Calvino. You have always had a special place in my heart.
