

She is survived by her husband Alan Josephson, two children Isaac ( Sarah) of Brooklyn, New York and Micah (Samantha) of Millersville, PA, and grandchildren Asher Josephson and Leah Josephson in addition to many nieces and a nephew.
Harriet was proud of her children and spouses for their personal accomplishments and empathy towards others. Her grandchildren Asher ( Tulane University) and Leah (University of Michigan) gave her great joy and she often spoke of their desire to make a difference.
Harriet’s parents Isadore and Mildred Sokolow and sister Judith Kaplan proceeded her in death.
While in Springfield IL, Harriet worked for the State of Illinois as a disability claims examiner, helping to facilitate aid to people in need. She retired in 2006.
She was a member of Springfield’s Temple Brith Shalom and Temple Israel, Springfield Jewish Federation, and Hadassah. In Pennsylvania, she was a member of Temple Beth El.
Harriet favored the Arts and often could be found working or acting at the Theater Center and Muni in Springfield. Her music passion was Broadway show tunes.
She loved swimming, cycling, reading, listening to NPR.and progressive politics. She was excited to attend the inauguration of Barak Obama in 2009.
Although Illinois was her home of more than forty five years, Harriet’s early and formative period was spent in the Bronx, New York City. She often reminisced about life on Jerome Avenue, 1950s Yankees, local theater and dance.
