Lawrence (Larry) Philip Lieberman, age 84, passed away on February 15, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1939, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Henry and Augusta Lieberman. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and zest for life.
In his early years, Larry, along with his parents and sister Janice, relocated to the Bronx, where he met Beverly. At the age of 23, Larry married Beverly on April 1, 1963. Together, they raised two children, Amy and Andrew in their home in Monmouth Junction, NJ where they built many loving memories. The couple was known for their hospitality, frequently hosting gatherings for friends and extended family where Larry's exceptional home-cooked meals took center stage. Their family eventually expanded to include son-in-law Tony, and then granddaughter Rachel. Larry and Beverly shared a life filled with love, laughter, and traveling for 41 beautiful years until her passing in 2004.
In 2007, Larry found love again and married Carol, with whom he shared 16 cherished years until his passing. Through this union, Larry's family grew to include children Jodi, Robin, Scott, and Rorie, along with an extended circle of grandchildren: Angelo, Ben, Jacob, Samantha, River, and Mage. Over time, the family grew even more by welcoming the loving spouses of children and grandchildren into the fold. Three more grandchildren were welcomed into the family, Elliot, Hunter, and Annabel. Additionally, the family was blessed with great-grandchildren Matthew, Aubrianna, Peter, and Emily who brought endless warmth to their hearts. In the company of his extended family, Larry cherished the added love and camaraderie, finding great happiness in their lively gatherings and shared closeness.
Larry was a master plumber, renowned for his exceptional skill and dedication to his craft. He took great pride in his work, regaling loved ones with tales of his experiences in the vibrant streets of New York City. Even into his 70s, Larry continued to work at his trade, finding immense fulfillment in his craft.
Beyond his profession, Larry was a man of diverse interests and passions. He found joy in jazz music, traveling to destinations all over the globe, and engaging in adventurous activities such as scuba diving, paintball, and target shooting. Larry's culinary adventures led him to relish in the delights of a good meal, with family sushi night holding a special place in his heart.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering presence and support for his family and loved ones. His sense of humor, strong work ethic, and captivating storytelling endeared him to all who knew him. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, his legacy lives on in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, friends, and cherished in-laws Barbara and Marty.
While we mourn his passing, we celebrate the rich tapestry of memories he leaves behind and the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to have known him. The family will be observing Shiva at Larry’s daughter’s home in Monmouth Junction, NJ on Monday, February 19th and Tuesday, February 20th.
A 11:30 AM Chapel service was held Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Followed by burial at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
