Born on December 6, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, to his devoted parents Bessie and Moses Schnapp, Lewis embarked on a life marked by intellect, joy, and an unparalleled ability to connect with others. A proud graduate of Columbia University, Lewis dedicated his life to the field of certified public accounting. Early in his career, he honed his skills working for various companies before establishing his own successful private practice. For Lewis, his clients were more than just business associates; many of his clients became good friends, a testament to his warm and engaging nature.
Lewis found immense joy in life's simple and grand pleasures. He was a true "Scrabble master," renowned for his prowess with words, and equally adept at conquering crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and all types of games. His home was often filled with the harmonious sounds of classical music, a passion he deeply cherished. An adventurous spirit, Lewis and Carol loved to travel, especially with friends, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. He was also a keen proponent of Ayn Rand and the philosophy of Objectivism. Above all, Lewis loved a celebration of any kind, embracing every opportunity for gathering and merriment.
Holidays at Lewis and Carol's home were legendary. You could always count on spending every BBQ holiday in their backyard, but the delightful mystery was always which apron and chef's hat Lewis would be sporting. He loved to grill and entertain, especially when he could don a costume, bringing laughter and lightheartedness to every occasion. He was a fun guy who truly made everybody laugh.
Lewis proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard, a commitment he held with honor.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carol; his sister, Brenda; his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Marlyne; his nieces and nephews, Jody, Doug, Michael, Fran, and Caroline; and his great-nieces and nephews, Tyler and Erica.
Lewis was beloved by all who knew him. People were drawn to his magnetic personality, his infectious humor, and his profound kindness. He leaves behind a vast circle of friends and family, near and far, who will deeply miss his unique sense of humor, his genuine warmth, and his remarkable gift for bringing people together. Lewis was a true connector of people, always eager to entertain and ensure everyone felt welcome and cherished.
His memory will forever be a source of joy and inspiration to all whose lives he touched.
