My most heartfelt and deepest condolences for the Goldberg family.  I was a close friend of Marcia’s son through Junior High School, I would go to their NJ home after school almost every day, and both Marcia and Joel treated me so well.  They would take me with their kids to local fun spots like The Rink, or Sportsworld, to sporting events (they took my to a NJ Nets game long before the team moved to Brooklyn), and they’d have me at their house to play Nintendo for a couple of hours and just hang out until my mom would get home from work.

Marcia was a very sweet lady with a wonderful sense of humor.  Joel was always very kind and welcoming to me as well.  I lost touch long ago, and was trying to find her son Adam online when I saw this sad news.

I lost my mother Mara a few years ago as well, and she was also friendly with Marcia back then.  She thought she was such a fun and cool lady.  I truly hope someone in the family sees this, and lets both Adam and Melissa know that I send my regards, and am hoping that they are doing well.  Please reach out if you see this.

Our sincere condolences to the whole family . My husband Arthur Loeb was a second cousin of Marcia’s and although we only met her and Joel once at lunch on a trip to Florida , we will both treasure that meeting . Marcia shared with us photos of the Russian samovars her mother had brought with her from Russia and filled in gaps on Arthur’s genealogical journey .

Even though Marcia grew up in New Jersey she would travel to Ottawa, Canada, every year as a child to visit her grandparents and us, her Canadian cousins.   We found her to be a bright, sweet child then as we became acquainted.   Because of our distance we saw less of each other in adult life but we got together for family occasions.  And we spoke on the phone.  She remained the bright, sweet person I'd known as a child.   And she never complained or criticized anyone.   Marcia was unique and will be greatly missed.

Dear Joel, Melissa and Family, Adam, Erica and Family, 

Marcia has been our friend from day one when we moved to Wyndham Road in Teaneck, January 27, 1979.  

Melissa was just a little over a year old.  Joel would walk their dog Buffy and we would talk a little, then a lot.  Adam would come along a little later.

Marcia was always the first one on the scene to help when there was a problem -- like when the furnace went out the 2nd week we were there.  She had space heaters to lend and offered to put us up -- total strangers.  That is the Marcia I learned to love and call my friend.  She has always been there - selfless, generous, giving, and loving -- rare qualities that we will always cherish and never forget.  We are blessed to know Marcia and it has been a privilege to call her "our friend."

Her laugh was infectious, her devotion to Joel, her children and grandchildren is a model for the rest of us.  Needless to say, we are heartbroken that she was called so soon.
