of Fort Lee, NJ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, devoted
learner, and passionate engineer. At the age of 94, Sidney passed away
on Sunday, February 9th, 2025.
Sidney was born in Brooklyn NY, and grew up in the warm home of the
late Abe and Katie Kaplan, alongside his brother Martin. From an early
age, he was curious and creative, with an extraordinary passion for
learning. So brilliant was his mind that he skipped several years of
school, advancing far beyond his peers and eventually graduating with
advanced degrees from MIT and Columbia.
Sidney met the love of his life at first sight on the tennis courts at
the Tamiment resorts. As many of their friends and family would say,
Dorothy and Sidney were "made for each other." Together, they built a
life filled with love and shared passions.
Sidney went on to found Timeplex Inc., which became the leader in
statistical multiplexers in the late '70s and '80s. Throughout his
life, Sidney and Dorothy created a loving home for their three
children. His love for family extended to his eight grandchildren, to
whom he was always eager to impart not only his knowledge but also his
deep love for Judaism.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Schuchman
Kaplan three children Nancy Tancer (Robert Ritter), Ted Kaplan (Gayle
Kaplan), Michelle Grosser (Jeff Grosser) and his eight loving
grandchildren Jason Tancer (Elizabeth Tancer), Katelyn Kaufman
(Bradley Kaufman), Kyla Kaplan, Matthew Tancer (Ilana Rothstein), Adam
Kaplan, Mason Krolick, Lauren Tancer, and Nathan Kaplan.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in
Sidney’s name.
