Stuart Michael Lane, 80, of Teaneck, a retired public health educator, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. Stuart was born on November 26, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Beatrice (nee Ginsburg) and Aaron Lickerman (later changed to Lane). Stuart was a graduate of City College of New York, and attended Brandeis University for graduate work before completing a Ph.D. in chemistry at Rutgers University. He then completed post-graduate research at Yale University and started his career with Smith Klein and French. Dr. Lane was in the pharmaceutical industry for ten years, before becoming principal of Medical Marketing Healthcare Communications, serving as a consultant, writer, and editor for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, medical communication agencies, scientific publishers, and medical malpractice law firms. Stuart completed an MPH at Columbia University and has been a member (and past President) of the Mailman School of Public Health Alumni Board of Directors since 1973. He was committed to serving as an educator and spent his professional life teaching healthcare management and marketing at several universities, including St. Joseph's College (of Maine), Long Island University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Pace University, Manhattan College, Iona College, and Columbia University. Stuart was a pioneer in distance learning decades before it became so prevalent. He was a Teaneck enthusiast, living there since 1974, enjoying the Teaneck Public Library and the many artistic and cultural offerings of the community. He loved the visual arts: theatre, music, and dance, making regular trips into New York City by public transportation to attend shows. Stuart had an extensive art collection with walls covered floor to ceiling with his treasured finds. He enjoyed travelling the world, visiting more than 20 countries in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. He was a proud and devoted father, who cherished his son's accomplishments and pursuit of education. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Mel. He is survived by two siblings, Lenore (Atlantic City) and Gary (Florida); his son, Brian and three grandchildren, Hezekiah, Rebecca, and Abigail (Grand Rapids, Michigan); a beloved niece and two nephews; and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:30PM on Friday July 9, 2021 at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
