He was a Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years, then in the reserves and 10 years with the Commissionaires before fully retiring in 1996.
He was survived by his wife, Carol (O’Donnell ); daughters, Wendy Murphy (Paul) of Dartmouth and Karen Craig (Ray) of Edmonton; sister, Idella Hodder of Dartmouth; brother-in-law, John O’Donnell (Susan) of PEI; grandchildren, Kari, Blair, Natasha , Matthew and Christopher; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Sharon Zinck and Ethel Bowen.
Visitation will be held 2-4 pm on Sunday October 30, 2016 in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Interment in Fernwood Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
