Barry Ernest Myra

13 July, 194713 April, 2021

Barry Ernest Myra, age 73, of Halifax, passed away April 13th at the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Gold River, he was a son of the late Ernest and Beryle Myra. Above all else he was a very loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. Barry was a salesman all his life, selling everything from vacuum cleaners, cars, mobile homes all the way to monuments. Barry very much loved always being on the go and keeping busy. In his 30's he coached broomball and always enjoyed watching wrestling. Later in life he would take a small engine repair course as well as computer courses. He enjoyed spending time online and always took pride in everything he did. Known as a happy-go-lucky person, Barry was always laughing and telling jokes. He always have a smile on his face and especially loved making others smile too. Back in the 80's he took great pride in driving his beautiful red convertible while blasting country music, of course. Lots of fun memories were formed by friends and family while cruising around with him in his car. Barry was a blood donor and was the type of person who would stop at nothing to help someone out. He wasn't a drinker but he should have owned shares at Tim Hortons from all the coffee he purchased!. His motto was always "But first, coffee!" The last few years he lived at Almon Place Senior Independent Living Apartments in Halifax where he enjoyed interacting with the other residents. There he would build a valued friendship with his best buddy Bev. Barry was a very independent individual and immaculate house keeper. He loved scooting around on his scooter and attended Bingo 3 times a week, always excited for the chance to call out Bingo! He also played cards with friends a few nights a week. Barry passed away in his sleep on the morning of April 13th 2021 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). He was ready and felt at peace knowing he would feel no more pain and join his loved ones in Heaven. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Rhuland and son, Trevor Myra (Vickie Croft); his grandchildren Sara and Steven Rhuland as well as Brandon, Austin, and Tamera Mrya; and 3 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Beryle Myra; and brother, Brian Myra. Fly high with the angels our handsome angel. You will be forever missed. Rest in Peace.

You will forever live in our hearts and minds till we meet again.

He used to come to our house & we would play cards for money, till late in the night, He was a funny guy but always had a laugh for you. Will miss his jokes & humor. This announcement took me by complete surprise as I was chatting with your father a couple of weeks ago.
Although I was in your father's life but for a short time, we remained friends.
He is now one of God's angels, watching over us all 💖.
RIP Barry 💖

So sorry to hear of Barry’s passing . Barry was my cousin( Marilyn’s) but lost touch over the years and I’m sorry about that. Barry’s father and my mother Blanche were brother and sister. My deceased brother Earnest was named for Uncle Ernie. May your memories of Barry help you through this hard time and give you peace. God Bless.
