Bernard Earle Levy, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018. Born on September 24,1938 in Halifax, he was the youngest son of the late Anne Kathleen and Harry Levy.

In his younger years he was a very gifted athlete. He often spoke of being on the St. Pats High School hockey team, starting when he was in grade nine, where he was affectionately called ‘’Boom Boom Levy”, for scoring many goals and assists. He married his loving wife Mary MacDougall, in 1962, and they became the proud parents of two sets of twin girls, born exactly eleven months apart.

He started his career with Maritime Tel and Tel in 1961, and had an amazing 32 years, starting out as a general labourer and retiring in 1993 as Regional Manager. He truly loved his career at MT&T and made many friends along the way, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. He was also a very successful professional boxing promoter.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary, and is survived by his daughters; Bernadette, Claudette (Karen), Maureen and Kathleen, as well as grandchildren: Kimberley and Matthew, his sister, Mary (Donald) and he was predeceased by his brother Harry.

He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend and a proud Northender. He had a wonderful sense of humour and shared many stories that we will forever cherish. We will miss him dearly, and remember him always telling us to ‘’Keep Punching!’’

What can one say when a loved one walks through that mystery door into another realm of unknowns other than I AM BUT A THOUGHT AWAY; I AM BUT A FEELING AWAY. Bernadette, I am saddened for you and your family that your Dad is gone. Memories; at least while on this side of that mystery door; will keep him present as you continue to venture into the future. These memories will hug you until you one day walk through that same door and greet him on the other side. Hugs and prayers my friend.

Just spoke with Aunt Joan today and heard about Bernie and have been thinking about him and your family throughout the day. Thank you for sharing all the photos. It brought back memories of Kay, Harry and Mary. Mom loved Bernie and always spoke fondly of him. They are now together and hopefully having a little chuckle. Take care, lots of love, Marguerite

Bernadette, Claudette, Kathleen , Maureen & families:

We were shocked yesterday to hear of your beloved Dad / brother/ grandfather / friend's passing.
We sure have a lot of years and memories living next door to the Levys' all these past years.

I so loved whenever I came into the city to visit with my Mom, and always found Bernie close by and stopped for a chat. Always a smile on my face after talking with him...... Always talking about his younger years, especially in the past few years..... Always asking about all of our little grandsons; and Bernie so loved animals......Loved our new dog "Jake the Snake' as he called him.....My Mom's little dog would make a bee line for Bernie's as soon as she was out the door; and if Bernie was on the step, she would leap right up into his arms....Unconditional love right there...
And your Dad was that kind of a human being.....Always smiling, taking everything in stride; being friends with anyone who he came in contact with.

I don't believe I will ever walk into my mother's door again, without looking over and seeing Bernie sitting on that step.....and waving......smiling.. .. ..

Be proud of your Dad....yes, you will miss him dearly, but you are all now his legacy, and he was so very proud of each and every one of you.

We so regret that we won't be able to make the trip up to your Dad's service today.
Sending you all some peace during your rough days and nights to follow.
With deepest sympathy,
Judy & Brian Hugs.
