

LUMSDEN, Cyril Frederick - It is with deep sadness that the family of Cyril Lumsden of Halifax, formerly of Hazel Hill, Guysborough Co., announce his passing on Thursday, January 1st, 2015. Born in Half Island Cove, Cyril was the son of the late Edward and Ethel (Hendsbee) Lumsden.
Cyril will be remembered for being a gentle man with a ready smile and a funny comment or silly pun at the ready. While employed with National Sea Products, Canso, NS, he had a reputation as being a kind and helpful boss who would go above and beyond for his employees. As a young man, Cyril enjoyed boxing and playing the guitar, and was extremely talented at both.
Left to mourn his passing are his son, Sandy Lumsden-Gallant (husband Marcel Gallant) and his daughter, Sandra Lumsden (fiance William O'Brien), both of Moncton, NB;
brother Barry (Judy Doyle), sisters-in-law Bertie (Yates) Lumsden and Joyce (Hanlon) Lumsden, much-beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Cyril was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Velma (MacDonald) Lumsden, three brothers: Brian, Frankie
and Reid Lumsden; three sisters: June Morine, Ruth and Grace Lumsden.
Cyril will be laid to rest with his wife and best friend Velma in Bayview Cemetery, Half Island Cove. Memorial service and interment to take place in the spring. Donations in Cyril's name may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Cremation arrangements are in the dignified and compassionate care of Cruikshanks' Funeral Home, Halifax.
