Pelham, (McDonald) Maria Doris, November 17, 1917-June 26, 2012. Our mother Doris died peacefully, in Halifax, at the age of 94, surrounded by family, after a very long and fulfilling life. She was born in Halifax, the eldest daughter of the late Clifford and Catherine (Markley) McDonald. She was a dedicated wife and mother, a prolific reader, and enjoyed playing bridge. She very much enjoyed her winters on Anna Maria Island with her son Stephen and his family. Doris was passionate about watching her sons play hockey and could often be heard cheering them on as St. Pat’s battled their rivals from QEH. She thoroughly enjoyed watching NHL games until her death. She had an awesome sense of humor, and always appreciated a good joke. Doris is survived by sons Michael (Lynn), Peter (Helen), Rick (Eileen), Cliff (Gina), Stephen (Sheleagh), daughters Cathy (Wayne Faulkner), Susan McKenzie, and sister Catherine (Kaye) McDonald. She was pre-deceased by husband Leonard, sisters Elizabeth (Betty) MacDonald, Jean Holloway, and grand-daughter Sarah Pelham. She had 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the fourth floor staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Purcell’s Cove Rd, for their extensive personal care for Mom.
