It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emmanuel Xidos on Thursday, July 12th. Born on November 3, in Peratriovasalos, Milos, Greece. He is predeceased by his parents George and Aphrodite (Rapanakis) Xidos; his loving wife, Matina; his brother, Nick (Katina) and a sister, Moskoula (infant).
He is survived by his only child, George Xidos (Connie); grandchildren, Jordan Xidos and Sheila MacNeil; brother, Peter Xidos; sisters, Katina (Michalis d.) and Moskoula (Tasos) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and he will say it was the best decision he ever made because it’s where he met his wife of 49 years. He worked as a pastry chef at the Lord Nelson Hotel before getting a job with the school board as a janitor.
He would often be seen at the Superstore getting his groceries and chatting with everyone. Best known for his amazing Baklava and cooking tasty meals. He was everyone’s Papou and kids loved him. A member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, he was a kind man of strong faith and loved his family dearly.
