

Scarff, Ernest Stephen, Halifax, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at home. Born in Montreal he was a son of the Late Ernest and Marjorie (Feeley) Scarff. In 1987 Steve adopted Nova Scotia as home for his family and established City Mazda as a family dealership as it remains as a 3rd. generation operation. He was an active member of CAJAD as well as Past president, a proud member of Standardbred Canada. Steve celebrated 40 years of achievements as an owner of Standardbreds with his most successful year being 2010. For countless years, Steve was a proud supporter, contributor and a participant in 2009 of The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. Another of Steve's passions was helping the Salvation Army as a board member and a community member, especially volunteering his services and those of City Mazda for their Christmas Food Drive. Poppie will be sadly missed by all who knew him and especially his six beautiful granddaughters who were the light of his life. He is survived by his wife Patricia, one son Stephen Jr. (June), 2 daughters Kelly and Kathy (Todd), 2 brothers Richard and Christopher; 1 Sister Nancy Franklin. 6 Grandchildren: Amanda, Sara, Bryanna, Rebecca, Gillian and Rory. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm in Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Friday, St. Thomas Aquinas Church Halifax. Rev. Mark Cherry officiating. Reception at City Mazda following service. Burial at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
