SIM, George William - It is with great sadness that the family of George Sim announces his passing on January 13, 2013, at the age of 101. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Annie Janet (MacDonald) and James Albert Sim. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family; predeceased by his parents and brothers Ed, Ralph, and Earle. He was married to the late Grace Reta Sim (Marshall) formerly of Marshalltown, Digby Co., for 65 years. He is survived by son, George Vernon of Hubbards; daughter, Judith Lorway of Sydney; and Patricia Clair of Halifax. He has 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dad worked for DND for 35 years. He was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion. He was a Mason and a member of the Acadia Lodge. He sang with the Atlantic Swells Barbershop Chorus and in the International Tattoo choir for six years. He was an active member of the Waegwoltic Club and West End Baptist Church for several years. He and Grace enjoyed winters in Florida. He enjoyed sports as a young boy; especially, track and field. He often would tell the story about being the marble champion of Halifax. Thank you to the doctors and nurses involved in his care over the last two years.
